    1. This product is sold unethically without the memory card and the product listing make it very hard to see that, so watch out, you won’t be able to use it when they ship it.

On the first day of Christmas, my husband gave to me, my shinny new Nikon camera.

On the second day of Christmas, Nikon gave to me, a camera that stopped working.

On the third day of Christmas I went to UPS and mailed my camera

On the fourth day of Christmas Nikon announced to me…no service for your…camera is “grey market” (because I bought it from an online retailer)

On the fifth day of Christmas I begged Nikon to repair it

On the sixth day of Christmas my Nikon LENS broke

On the seventh day of Christmas back to UPS

On the eight day of Christmas Nikon did a GRINCH SWITCHEROO

“You don’t own a Nikon, You own a Sigma, we’re sending this piece of junk back to you..”

On the ninth day of Christmas I received someone else’s Sigma lens

On the 10th day of Christmas I called Nikon and sent a million emails (for 6 months)

On the 11th day of Christmas I contacted senior management….still no camera

On the 12th day of Christmas I bade farewell to my $$$ Nikon…forever lost at Nikon’s service center and unretruned to me

Yes, my camera was stolen by Nikon. What a sad Christmas this will be!!

    3. Dirt or what looks to be a hair can be seen when looking thru viewfinder(not rear LCD screen). While this does not show up on picture nonetheless it is distracting when looking thru viewfinder and is unacceptable for a brand new out of the box camera. Annoying thing is that I recieved two of these cameras in a row with this same problem(1st from original order and 2nd a replacement for 1st). Therefore I really have to question Nikon’s quality control and inspection standards. Too bad focusing screen can not be taken out so as to clean pentaprism and topside of screen. Most film cameras allowed this and some other DSLR’s allow this. Calling Nikon about this was like talking to a wall. Really bad customer service. I want to note though that Amazon service has been great.

    4. Namaste says:

My dad bought me a Nikon D3000 for Christmas 2009. I got it in January 2010. By March it was showing a blackish/brown spot in all of my pictures!!!! I spent almost $20 to send it to Nikon, with the understanding that there is a one year warranty on it. Fine, ok, I guess. I didn’t hear back from them. The tracking code said it had arrived, but still didn’t hear from them. I called and they showed nothing in their computer on it. Called back a week later…finally it was showing, along with a bill to charge me $171.47 to fix it!!!! It was only a few months old!! That is so screwed! They won’t take money orders, only credit cards and checks. Our cards are full and we don’t have checks. I asked how I was supposed to pay for it and they repeated “check or credit card”. I don’t have the money to pay it in one payment, it would have to be payments. But how?

So they said I have 45 days to pay for it or they ship it back. 45 days from a date that they put out there, and didn’t tell me about it til I got a letter telling me, a week later. Ugh!

Now I have to figure out how to pay $171 bucks, in 45 days, or get back a defective camera that puts spots on everything! I will never buy another NIKON. Should have gotten a Canon. I have tried Canon, Fuji and Sony and I’ve never had problems with spots on the lens or pictures.

My daughter has an HP laptop she bought in August and a few months later the screen went out. They shipped her a box, post paid, fixed it, retained all her info on it and had it back to her within a WEEK! Now that is service!! NIKON should take lessons because I have read other negative reviews of NIKON’s ways of handling their product. If it says NIKON ON IT, THEY SHOULD FIX IT FREE AT LEAST FOR A YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!

I also want to note that my dad bought a D90 and his is not focusing when it takes video. NIKON actually tried to convince him he had to manually focus the camera as he is filming, even though it did at first. I call BS! I don’t know what he’s going to do either. GRRRRRR!!!

    5. For the money this SLR is great. Better than D60 D40 and d5000. The extra 2.2 mp is not worth the extra 200$. This camera is kicking is great. Lightweight and easy to adjust setting. Would recomend for beginner photo enthusiast. Enough to play with and has plenty of advanced setting also.
